IGP, NBA MOVE TO STRENGTHEN CRIMINAL JUSTICE DELIVERY IN NIGERIA

This was disclosed during a courtesy visit by the Nigerian Bar Association Executives to the Force Headquarters on Tuesday, 23rd June, 2026.

The delegation was led by NBA President, Afam Osigwe, and included Abdul Mohammed, SAN; First Vice President Sabastine Anya; General Secretary Dr. Mobolaji Ojibara; Chief of Staff Barbara Omosun; Salamatu Sidi, NBA AED; Etaba Agbor; and Isaac Aduloju.

During the visit, Osigwe commended the Inspector-General for ongoing efforts aimed at enhancing professionalism, accountability, and service delivery within the Force. He also reaffirmed the Association’s willingness to support initiatives that strengthen justice administration and uphold the rule of law.

The NBA President further extended an invitation to the Nigeria Police Force to participate in the Association’s forthcoming Annual General Conference.

Speaking during the engagement, IGP Disu emphasized the Force’s dedication to constitutional policing, protection of fundamental human rights, and strict adherence to due process in the discharge of its duties.

He also highlighted the importance of sustained cooperation between the Police and legal practitioners, noting that stronger collaboration among institutions within the criminal justice system is essential for promoting accountability, safeguarding citizens’ rights, and improving access to justice.

The Inspector-General maintained that the Nigeria Police Force remains focused on raising operational standards, building public trust, and delivering policing services in accordance with the law and internationally accepted best practices.
