This was disclosed in a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, ASP Agabe Blessing Kaborlo, who confirmed that the Command has taken the allegations seriously and will ensure a thorough review of the incident.
In response to the development, the Commissioner of Police, Rivers State Command, CP Olugbenga A. Adepoju, psc, mnips, has ordered the immediate arrest, detention, and investigation of all officers implicated in the allegations.
The Command reiterated that extortion, illegal collection of money, and any form of misconduct will not be tolerated, stressing its commitment to professionalism, accountability, and public trust in policing.
CP Adepoju further assured that the investigation will be conducted in a transparent and impartial manner, adding that any officer found culpable will face appropriate disciplinary action in line with the Nigeria Police Act and relevant regulations.
The Command also commended members of the public for speaking out and encouraged continued reporting of cases of misconduct, corruption, and abuse of office through official channels.
It reaffirmed its resolve to uphold discipline within the Force and ensure effective and professional policing across Rivers State.
