IGP MOURNS DCP KHAN SALIHU, DISMISSES FALSE KIDNAPPING REPORTS

In a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Okon Placid, psc(+), mnipr, mni, on Monday, 16th June, 2026, the Inspector-General described the death as a painful loss to the Nigeria Police Force, noting that the late officer was a dedicated, disciplined, and professionally accomplished senior officer.

He said DCP Salihu distinguished himself through strong administrative competence, loyalty, and commitment to duty, adding that his service greatly contributed to the operational efficiency of the Lagos State Command.

The Inspector-General extended his condolences to the family of the deceased, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Olaiwola Fatai, psc, mnips, and all officers and men of the Command, praying for the peaceful repose of the departed soul and strength for those he left behind.

The Force also dismissed reports alleging that the late DCP was kidnapped prior to his death, describing the claims as false, misleading, and entirely unfounded.

It clarified that DCP Salihu had complained of feeling unwell and was immediately rushed to the hospital for urgent medical attention, where he was confirmed dead on arrival.

The statement further condemned the circulation of what it termed reckless and unverified reports, especially during a period of mourning, and demanded the immediate withdrawal of the publication, alongside a public correction and apology from the media outlet involved.

Members of the public were urged to disregard the false reports and rely only on official information from the Nigeria Police Force.

May his soul rest in perfect peace.
