ACCORD REJECTS COURT RULING ON DE-REGISTRATION, VOWS TO APPEAL

In a statement issued at its National Secretariat in Abuja, the party said the judgement was delivered in flagrant disregard of a subsisting stay of proceedings earlier granted by the court of appeal.

Accord questioned the decision of the lower court to proceed with the case despite the appellate court’s directive, stressing that such action undermines the rule of law and due process.

The party maintained that it is not affected by the suit filed by the National Forum of Former Legislators, noting that it fulfilled constitutional and electoral requirements by winning two councillorship seats in Jigawa State.

Accord further assured its members, candidates and supporters that it remains a legally recognised political party and will participate in upcoming elections, including the Ekiti and Osun governorship polls, as well as the 2027 general elections.

Accord stated that its legal team has already commenced action to challenge the judgement, expressing confidence that the ruling will be overturned on appeal.

The party reiterated its commitment to promoting multiparty democracy, upholding the rule of law, and resisting any attempt to undermine Nigeria’s constitutional governance.

National Chairman of Accord, Maxwell Mgbudem, called on Nigerians to remain united in the pursuit of good governance, economic prosperity, and national security.
