The State Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Hajia, made the disclosure during a press briefing on Wednesday, noting that the arrests followed credible intelligence and sustained security.
In one of the key operations, police intercepted three suspected members of the Mamudawa group—Muhammadu Bandi, Aliyu Abubakar, and Muhammad Abubakar—while they were travelling on a motorcycle from Lolo town to procure food items allegedly meant for their group. They were arrested by mobile police operatives, with investigators also linking them to the killing of three personnel of the Federal Road Safety Corps in Bagudo Local Government Area.
In a separate raid, mobile police operatives also arrested four suspected Lakurawa members in Bakin Ruwa, Bagudo LGA. The suspects—Haruna Abubakar, Abubakar Lawali, Amne Shehu, and Yahya Shehu—are currently under investigation over alleged activities within the SODA Forest in Bagudo. Authorities confirmed that the case has been transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department for deeper probing.
Similarly, acting on intelligence provided by vigilante groups in Zazzagawa village, Argungu Local Government Area, police arrested one Murtala Sani on June 20, 2026, for allegedly supplying logistics to suspected Lakurawa operatives.
In another development, police on June 10 arrested several armed kidnappers following an attack on a residential home. The suspects reportedly invaded the house, stole valuables, and abducted two victims—Mustapha Musa’s wife and Malama Asma’u Isah—before operatives tracked them down and rescued the victims.
The command also confirmed the arrest of Faruku Muhammed of Tungar Zabarmawa in Jega Local Government Area over allegations of raping a 10-year-old girl, Naja’atu, inside an Islamiyya school where he worked as a security guard. Investigators say he allegedly lured the child into the school premises before committing the offence.
CP Umar Hajia assured that all suspects will undergo thorough investigation and will be prosecuted once inquiries are concluded.
