His death was announced on Saturday by his former digital and creative media aide, Shamsuddeen Lukman Abubakar.
In a statement, Lukman disclosed that the elder statesman died in the early hours of Saturday after a lifetime of service to Bauchi State and the country.
“It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Arch. Audu Sule-Katagum, Wazirin Katagum and former Deputy Governor of Bauchi State.
“The deceased passed away in the early hours of today after a life of dedicated service to his community, Bauchi State, and the nation,” the statement read.
Lukman also prayed for Allah’s mercy upon the deceased, asking that his shortcomings be forgiven and that he be granted Aljannatul Firdaus.
Before becoming deputy governor, Sule-Katagum served as Chief of Staff at the Bauchi State Government House. He later held the position of deputy governor between 2018 and 2019 during the administration of former Governor Mohammed Abubakar.
Family members and associates have since laid him to rest in accordance with Islamic rites.
