This was disclosed by FIFA President Gianni Infantino on Tuesday during an interview with Fox & Friends, where he confirmed the president’s participation in the final ceremony.
“We will be together with the president enjoying the final and handing the trophy to the winner, of course, together,” Infantino said.
Infantino, who has maintained a close relationship with Trump, had earlier presented him with a newly created FIFA Peace Prize during the World Cup draw held in Washington last year.
The planned joint trophy presentation comes months after a controversial moment at the Club World Cup final in New Jersey, where Trump took part in the trophy presentation ceremony following Chelsea’s victory over Paris Saint-Germain.
During that event, Trump handed the trophy to Chelsea captain Reece James but remained on stage longer than expected, briefly appearing in the team’s celebrations alongside visibly surprised players.
