Williams was competing alongside his longtime tag team partner Jesse Guilmette, known as “The Blade,” at an Enjoy Wrestling event at Mr. Smalls Theatre in Millvale on Friday night when he collapsed at the end of their match.
The incident prompted an immediate response from medical personnel at the venue, who began performing CPR before an ambulance arrived and transported him to the hospital.
Following the medical emergency, the remainder of the wrestling event was canceled and attendees were sent home.
Enjoy Wrestling said in a statement: “Our doctors on staff tended to him immediately, administering CPR until the ambulance arrived.
“We sent everyone home and are at the hospital now waiting for more information.”
The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office later confirmed to TMZ on Sunday that Williams had died.
Williams was widely known in professional wrestling as The Butcher and had performed with Jesse Guilmette as part of the tag team The Butcher and The Blade. He also wrestled for All Elite Wrestling (AEW).
Outside wrestling, Williams was also a musician and was the rhythm guitarist for the metalcore band Every Time I Die before the group broke up in 2022.
