A 24-year-old teacher identified as Nayara Carmo has died after falling through a drywall panel while trying to help pupils who were trapped in a toilet at a language school in Brazil.

The tragic incident reportedly happened on October 21, 2026, at FISK Taboão language school in Guarulhos.
Before the fall, Nayara was trying to pass the pupils the toilet keys before making her way out through a window.

However, as she attempted to leave the area, she stepped onto a drywall panel that appeared to be part of the floor but could not support her weight. The panel gave way beneath her, causing her to plunge to the ground floor.
When paramedics arrived, they found her lying near a staircase and confirmed her death.
Nayara worked as an academic coordinator at the school but continued teaching classes, a job she was deeply passionate about.
Following her death, the school paid tribute to her, remembering her as a dedicated teacher who cared deeply for her students.
The school wrote: “Today, we say goodbye to someone who was much more than a professional.
“Nay was a brilliant teacher who carried out her work with passion and dedication and had immense affection for all her students.
“She was a special person who touched the lives of everyone around her with her warmth, kindness and love for what she did.”
The school added: “Your love for education, your dedication and your light will live on in our memories and in our hearts.”
Nayara’s funeral and burial took place on October 23, 2026, as family, friends and colleagues mourned her passing.
