Officials mentioned that this approach could serve two purposes: strengthening Washington’s position in forthcoming diplomatic talks or enabling US President Donald Trump to announce a conclusive end to the conflict on his own.
Sources reveal that four primary military tactics are currently being assessed. One tactic includes seizing or blocking access to Kharg Island, which is Iran’s main oil export hub. Another option is to focus on Larak Island, where radar systems and smaller vessels could pose risks to commercial shipping.
A third alternative involves invading Abu Musa Island, which is essential for controlling ships departing from the Persian Gulf. This island, along with the Greater and Lesser Tunb islands, is governed by Iran but claimed by the United Arab Emirates.
