In a recent interview on the Lucky Udu Experience, kidnap victim Christian Joe recounted the harrowing experience he endured while held captive by armed bandits in Edo State. Joe detailed the humiliation and physical abuse he and other abductees faced during their ordeal.

He revealed that the bandits forced the victims to sing gospel songs every night, using the music as a form of twisted entertainment. The captives were also compelled to tell jokes and perform in ways that would amuse the bandits, creating an environment where psychological torment accompanied physical abuse.

Despite complying with these demands, Joe explained that the victims were often beaten and further punished while performing. He added that he personally endured harsher treatment than the others, making his time in captivity even more traumatic.

Joe described the situation in his own words: “In the night time these people (bandits) would make us sing music. They would tell us, ‘Which song do you sing in church? Sing one song.’ We would sing, we would entertain these people. Sometimes they would ask us to say something that would make them laugh and we would just find a way to crack any joke. While cracking these jokes they beat us and punish us.”

His testimony highlights the cruel and dehumanizing methods used by kidnappers to exert control over their victims, blending psychological manipulation with physical violence.
