In an interview with The Sun on Sunday, March 15, 2026, Dr. Adetokunbo Pearse, a public affairs analyst and convener of Reset Lagos Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has warned Nigerians about a growing constitutional crisis in the country, stating that the voices of citizens have been altered, polluted, and their interests diverted by the current administration.
Dr. Pearse claimed that the government is trying to manipulate the system to prevent a free and fair election in 2027, according to him, the president’s actions show a failure in leadership, and if elections proceed normally, the administration would lose credibility.
He said the crisis is serious and could escalate before the next general election and suggested that the government is planning to use this situation to delay or block the election entirely, he described this as a threat to Nigeria’s democracy and the rights of citizens.
The analyst stressed that citizens need to be aware of these developments, he said the alteration of Nigerians’ voices and diversion of their interests undermine public trust in government and urged political actors and the public to demand transparency and adherence to constitutional rules to prevent further manipulation.
Dr. Pearse stated that the issue is not just about politics but about protecting the democratic process and warned that ignoring the crisis could have long-term consequences for Nigeria’s governance and its reputation internationally.
