LAGOS ISLAND, LEKKI-AJAH ACCOUNT FOR HIGHEST CRIME CASES IN LAGOS

The Lagos State Government has revealed that more than 27 per cent of criminal cases recorded in the state within the last three years originated from the Lagos Island and Lekki-Ajah corridor, with Lekki/Ajah alone responsible for over 16 per cent of matters filed before the court

Pedro identified other areas with notable crime figures as Ikorodu, Alimosho, Lagos Mainland/Yaba and Mushi

 

According to him, stealing and related offences remained the most common crimes in the state, representing 44.7 per cent of all cases documented on the Lagos Criminal Information System (LCIS) during the period under revie

 

He disclosed that a total of 35,461 criminal cases were processed through courts across Lagos State within the past three years using the LCIS platfor

 

Pedro explained that the LCIS was introduced as a digital tool to improve criminal justice administration through enhanced transparency, efficiency and data-driven justice management in the stat

 

Meanwhile, the Lagos State Government said it has stepped up programmes targeted at addressing drug abuse and unemployment among youths through rehabilitation and empowerment initiative

 

Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mobolaji Ogunlende, disclosed during the same briefing in Alausa, Ikeja, that the programmes recorded 1,072 admissions into rehabilitation centres, 998 successful reunifications with families, as well as the training of 18 residents who are now working remotely for firms based in the United Kingdom through a government-supported digital skills schem
