The Katsina State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has concluded its House of Representatives primaries in a number of federal constituencies ahead of the 2027 general elections, with the party producing both elected and consensus candidates across the state.
In the Mani/Bindawa Federal Constituency, the Special Assistant to Governor Dikko Radda on Girl Child Education and Development, Hajiya Jamila Abdu Mani, emerged victorious in the party primary after defeating Ahmed Saleh Junior.
Announcing the outcome on Saturday, Chairman of the Electoral Committee for the constituency, Shafi’u Abdu Duwan, disclosed that Jamila secured 24,989 votes, while her opponent polled 1,256 votes.
Her victory was widely celebrated by party supporters, who described it as a major encouragement for women’s inclusion and participation in politics and leadership within the APC in Katsina State.
Meanwhile, stakeholders in the Kankara/Faskari/Sabuwa Federal Constituency unanimously adopted former Commissioner for Environment, Hon. Hamza Sule Faskari, as the APC consensus candidate for the House of Representatives seat.
During the affirmation rally held in Kankara town, party leaders and stakeholders praised the consensus committee, saying the process reflected the collective decision of APC members across the constituency.
According to the committee, delegates from the 31 wards spread across Kankara, Faskari and Sabuwa local government areas unanimously endorsed Hamza Sule based on his popularity, political experience, loyalty to the APC and contributions to public service.
The committee further stated that the former commissioner possesses the grassroots support and political influence required to retain the seat for the APC in the 2027 elections.
Speaking at the event, Katsina State Deputy Governor, Alhaji Faruk Lawal Jobe, commended the consensus committee and political leaders in the area, led by former Deputy Governor Alhaji Tukur Ahmad Jikamshi, for what he described as a transparent and inclusive exercise.
Jobe appealed to aspirants who did not emerge victorious to accept the outcome in the interest of party unity and work collectively toward APC’s success in the coming elections.
In his acceptance speech, Hamza Sule expressed appreciation to party stakeholders for the confidence placed in him, promising to justify the trust if elected into the National Assembly.
He also called on APC members to remain united and urged eligible voters who were yet to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards to do so ahead of the elections.
The APC candidate further pledged to tackle the security challenges affecting the constituency, especially banditry and kidnapping, through stronger collaboration with security agencies and advocacy for increased deployment of personnel and equipment.
Hamza Sule, who previously served twice as Commissioner for Environment in Katsina State and also worked as a legislative aide at the National Assembly, is regarded as one of the prominent political figures in the Funtua zone.
He is also recognised for his philanthropic activities, large-scale farming ventures and traditional titles, including Wamban Faskari and Sadaukin Kasar Hausa in the Daura Emirate.
Elsewhere, Usman Murtala Banye emerged as the APC consensus candidate for the Rimi/Charanchi/Batagarawa Federal Constituency.
Governor Dikko Radda, who attended the affirmation exercise at the Rimi Local Government Secretariat, described the consensus arrangement as a strong indication of party unity and internal democracy.
According to the governor, all aspirants willingly accepted the consensus option in line with provisions of the Electoral Act and the APC’s commitment to maintaining cohesion ahead of the 2027 polls.
Radda added that the consensus affirmation approach being implemented in Katsina State aligns with a broader framework introduced by the APC National Secretariat for adoption across constituencies nationwide.
