GUNMEN STRIKE KWARA PMF CAMP, KILL THREE OFFICERS, INJURE OTHERS

A deadly assault has been carried out on a Police Mobile Force (PMF) camp in Tenebo community, Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State, leaving at least three officers dead and two others injured.

The attack, which took place in the early hours of Saturday, triggered fear across the quiet farming community as residents fled their homes amid sustained gunfire.

According to sources, the attackers stormed the camp in large numbers in what appeared to be a coordinated surprise operation. The armed men reportedly overpowered the officers on duty before killing three and leaving two others wounded.

A resident of the area, Suleiman Issa, recounted the chaos that unfolded during the incident.

“This ugly killings happened at the early hours of 1am, just at midnight in Tenebo village, Kaiama.

“A terrible situation happened! Bandits came in their large numbers and invaded the villagers, people were killed and some were wounded,” Issa said.

The Kwara State Police Command has confirmed the attack. The command’s spokesperson, Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, said more details would be made available.

“I regret to confirm that an attack on the PMF Camp occurred in the early hours of today. I will provide more accurate and detailed information shortly. Thank you,” he said.

The incident adds to growing concerns over persistent insecurity in parts of Kaiama Local Government Area, where both communities and security formations have come under repeated attacks in recent weeks.

On April 20, suspected terrorists reportedly overran a joint security outpost in Kemanji community, killing at least three soldiers and two vigilantes, while making away with an army gun truck and other equipment.

Earlier, on April 10, five members of a local forest guard unit were killed in Nuku community, with attackers also destroying operational vehicles and facilities.

The latest violence comes months after a devastating February 2026 attack in Woro and Nuku communities, where more than 200 people were reportedly killed and about 176 others, including women and children, abducted.
