FUBARA PLANS NEW SECURITY ARRANGEMENT FOR GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has announced plans to introduce a new arrangement for managing security personnel attached to senior government officials.

He said the move is aimed at improving efficiency, reducing unnecessary deployment, and cutting the cost of maintaining multiple security details across different locations.

Fubara disclosed this on Thursday while inspecting an ongoing residential project for commissioners and special advisers in Port Harcourt.

He explained that the housing project, which consists of 25 units of six-bedroom duplexes, is intended to provide official accommodation for top government appointees. According to him, the initiative became necessary after it was discovered that many officials had no government-provided homes, leading to high expenditure on rented apartments.

The governor described the situation as inefficient, noting that placing officials in one residential area would improve coordination and make security management more organised.

He added that with officials living within a single complex, security coverage would be easier to manage through a coordinated system instead of multiple separate deployments.

Fubara expressed satisfaction with the progress of work and commended the contractor for maintaining the project timeline. He said the development is expected to be completed and commissioned by November.

He further stated that the project reflects his administration’s commitment to improving governance structures and public service delivery.
