The Federal Government has cautioned Nigerians against travelling out of the country without proper travel documents, warning that such actions are against the law and could expose travellers to danger.
In a public notice shared on X on Monday, DCI AS Akinlabi, spokesperson of the Nigeria Immigration Service, said every international trip must be done with valid travel documents, including passports, visas where necessary, and other approved immigration papers.
According to the agency, anyone attempting to evade official immigration processes or using illegal border routes would be violating Nigerian laws.
The service also expressed concern over the increasing activities of fraudulent migration syndicates that deceive Nigerians, especially young people, with fake promises of jobs, education opportunities, and better living conditions abroad.
“These schemes often result in forced labour, human trafficking, and other forms of exploitation,” the service warned, adding that no legitimate travel process bypasses established immigration procedures or official border posts.
The immigration agency advised members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious migration activities to the nearest Immigration Service office or other security agencies.
It further urged Nigerians to confirm all travel and recruitment opportunities through official channels and avoid dealing with unregistered agents or individuals encouraging irregular migration.
