The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Ogun State, Senator Solomon Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, has revealed that late veteran Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan, better known as Ogogo, was part of his plans for the state’s next administration.
Adeola disclosed this on Tuesday while paying a condolence visit to the family of the late actor in Ilaro, Ogun State.
The senator said that if elected governor in the 2027 election, he had intended to appoint Ogogo as Special Adviser on Tourism and Culture and make the position a cabinet-level appointment.
Adeola described the deceased actor as an elder brother and praised his contributions to Nollywood, Yoruba culture and the preservation of the state’s heritage.
According to him, Ogogo’s deep knowledge of traditional values and cultural affairs made him a natural choice for the proposed role.
“I told God that if it is destined for me to be governor, my elder brother Ogogo will be my Special Adviser on Tourism and Culture. My plan was he will be a Special Adviser that is a cabinet member,” Adeola said.
He explained that he had kept the plan to himself while hoping that he would eventually have the opportunity to work with the actor in government.
Adeola added that Ogogo’s experience as an actor and his understanding of Yoruba traditions would have made him valuable to an administration seeking to promote tourism and cultural development in Ogun.

“The reasons are not far-fetched. He is good at what he does as an actor, a traditional person, as a cultural person. What else do I want? Man proposes, God disposes,” he said.
Ogogo, who was 66, died on August 23, 2026, after battling stage-four cancer.
His death has continued to attract tributes from colleagues, political figures and admirers who have recognised his contributions to Nigeria’s film industry and Yoruba cultural heritage.
