Bauchi police rescue 17 minors, arrest two suspected drug dealers, recover exhibits

The Bauchi State Police Command remains resolute in its commitment to protecting our children, dismantling drug supply networks, and making our communities safe for all.

In line with this commitment, and following the timely intervention of a concerned member of the public, the Violent Crimes Response Unit of the Command have rescued 17 minors found abusing rubber solution, and arrested two suspected suppliers of the substance within Bauchi metropolis.

SEQUENCE OF EVENTS

On 5th November, 2026, at about 10:00pm, a good Samaritan apprehended eight (8) minors at Adamu Jumba Street, Bauchi, while they were taking rubber solution, and promptly handed them over to the Police.

Subsequently, in a follow-up operation on the same night, operatives arrested another nine (9) minors at Wunti Flyover Area for the same act, thereby bringing the total number of minors rescued to seventeen (17).

Furthermore, acting on the information gathered from the rescued minors, operatives on 6th November, 2026, at about 9:00pm, traced the supply chain and arrested two suspected suppliers, namely:

  1. Chimezie Ezikiel Nathan, 41 years old, of Yelwan Makaranta Area, Bauchi
  2. Sani Ali, 25 years old, of Muda Lawan Market, Bauchi

Consequently, a thorough search was conducted, and twelve (12) packs of rubber solution were recovered from the suspects as exhibits.

In addition to the arrests, all 17 minors have been taken into protective custody, while efforts are being intensified to locate, identify and reunite them with their parents and guardians.

Meanwhile, the suspects are in Police custody, and discreet investigation is ongoing to uncover other members of the supply chain and ensure they are also brought to justice.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has commended the good Samaritan for his vigilance and prompt action, and has described the exploitation of minors through drug supply as wicked, shameful and unacceptable.

“No child should be exposed to drugs. No criminal should profit from destroying the future of our children. We will continue to pursue, arrest and prosecute all those who supply drugs to minors, and we will ensure that every rescued child is protected and reunited with family.”

Accordingly, the CP appeals to parents, guardians, teachers, religious and community leaders to closely monitor their children, report suspicious persons or activities promptly, and join hands with the Police to rid Bauchi State of drug abuse and related crimes.

The Command therefore reassures the public of its zero tolerance for drug peddling and child exploitation, and its determination to sustain raids on identified hotspots.
