APGA Endorses Tinubu for 2027, Soludo says president loves Ndi Igbo

Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, has announced that the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has formally adopted President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as its presidential candidate for the 2027 general election.

Soludo made the announcement on Friday during the flag-off of APGA’s national campaign at Dr Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka, where he described Tinubu as a president who loves the Igbo and is friendly to businesses.

The governor, who is also the national leader of APGA, said the decision followed the ratification of the endorsement by the party’s National Working Committee (NWC).

“APGA, as a political party, has made it formal that we adopt President Tinubu as our presidential candidate,” Soludo declared.

He said the President’s relationship with the South-East, economic policies and interventions in the region informed the party’s decision.

Soludo recalled that Tinubu, during his tenure as governor of Lagos State, appointed two Anambra indigenes, Ben Akabueze as Commissioner for Budget and Joe Igbokwe, which he described as evidence of his longstanding relationship with the Igbo.

“The President has stood with us,” he said.

The governor also cited the stabilisation of the foreign exchange market, road development projects in the South-East and the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) as some of the benefits of the Tinubu administration to the region.

Speaking from an economic perspective, Soludo expressed confidence in the direction of the country’s economy, noting that the position had also been acknowledged by the Director-General of the World Trade Organisation, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.

He urged APGA candidates and supporters to mobilise across the country for Tinubu’s re-election, insisting that supporting the President was in the political and economic interest of the South-East.

“We are going to go to every nook and cranny and spread the message. It is in our enlightened self-interest that the President’s victory derives from our support,” he said.

Soludo also expressed confidence in APGA’s electoral prospects in Anambra, urging candidates to work towards winning all the available legislative seats in the state.

He declared that the party was targeting all 30 seats in the Anambra State House of Assembly, as well as the three senatorial seats and 11 House of Representatives seats.

The event attracted members of APGA’s National Working Committee, candidates contesting various legislative positions, members of the Anambra State Executive Council and party officials from the South-East states of Imo, Enugu, Ebonyi and Abia.

APGA National Chairman, Sly Ezeokenwa, commended Soludo for providing the leadership and political environment that had enabled the party to strengthen its position and formally endorse Tinubu.

He expressed confidence that the party would emerge victorious in the 2027 elections.

Similarly, the party’s National Woman Leader, Lizzy Nkwocha, pledged the support of APGA women for Tinubu’s re-election.

Other party leaders, including National Deputy Chairman (North), National Auditor Ola Kpokpo Ola, National Youth Leader Onyebuchi Chukwu and Anambra State Chairman Ifeatu Obi-Okoye, also commended the governor and pledged to mobilise support for Tinubu and APGA candidates.

The campaign flag-off marks the commencement of APGA’s nationwide mobilisation for Tinubu’s re-election and the election of its candidates into the National and State Assemblies in 2027.
