Why we keep low profile as Dangote’s children — Daughter

The three daughters of Nigerian billionaire businessman, Aliko Dangote, have explained why they have deliberately maintained a low public profile despite their prominent family background.

Halima Dangote, one of the billionaire’s daughters, said she and her sisters, Mariya and Fatima, preferred to allow their professional achievements to speak for them rather than draw attention to their wealth and family name.

Halima made the disclosure in a resurfaced video from a Bloomberg Next Africa special featuring the three sisters.

The interview, which was filmed at the family’s home in Lagos and published in August 2026, has since generated reactions on social media.

Speaking about growing up in the Dangote family, Halima said she and her sisters were not “spoilt” and had generally avoided public attention.

“We are not spoilt,” she said.

Explaining their approach to public life, she said the sisters often avoided revealing their identities or discussing their family background when interacting with people within their social circle.

“Any time we meet with our co-peers — like the kids of our dad’s friends, or people that we’re supposed to — we don’t… I mean, everyone has his own job. We are more… we’re quiet in the sense that we don’t say who we are.

“It’s, I don’t know if it’s fortunate or unfortunate, now people recognise us. But it was easier when we were not recognised; you know, our results speak for themselves,” she said.

Halima said the sisters were also not particularly interested in using social media to showcase their lifestyles, wealth or possessions.

“I mean, some people are really comfortable with social media, with being known, with being expressive. I don’t think we are — all three of us are not expressive of what we have or what we own or what we’re doing,” she said.

According to her, the sisters preferred to be assessed based on their professional performance and the results they achieved in their respective roles.

“I think, like Fatima and Mariya said, the results are just the ones speaking for themselves: the sale of this business, the profit of this, the EBITDA, our growth, growing to $100 billion. We are all in those key positions and, I mean, numbers don’t lie,” she added.
