According to reports, the cow remained in labour for approximately four to five hours before veterinary doctors assisted with the delivery.
When the calf was eventually delivered, its unusual physical features immediately caught the attention of those present.
The newborn had two heads and eight legs, a rare developmental abnormality that occurs during pregnancy.
Sadly, the calf did not survive for long after birth.
Veterinary officials said births involving animals with such severe abnormalities are extremely uncommon.
They explained that the condition can occur when abnormalities develop during the early stages of a foetus’s growth inside the womb.
In some cases, two-headed animals develop when an embryo fails to completely separate during early development. This can result in conjoined twins with duplicated or partially duplicated body structures.
Such abnormalities can affect several vital parts of the body, making survival extremely difficult.
According to veterinary experts, animals born with severe developmental abnormalities may struggle with essential functions such as breathing, feeding and blood circulation. Problems affecting vital organs and the brain can also make survival shortly after birth unlikely.
