The Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, said a series of coordinated clearance operations has been performed targeting identified terrorist enclaves, neutralising two suspects and forcing others to flee.
This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, North-West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danjuma.
According to the statement, the operation was launched in the early hours of May 4, 2026, and covered key locations including Maikwanuga village in Talata Mafara Local Government Area, as well as Aljumma, Gidan Dawa, Magami Didi, and Tungar Magaji villages in Maradun LGA.
During an advance operation in Tungar Magaji, troops engaged the suspects with overwhelming firepower, resulting in the neutralisation of two of them.
The statement adds that troops subsequently conducted a thorough search of the area, recovering one AK-47 rifle with a loaded magazine containing 30 rounds, as well as a motorcycle.
The Army says the operation is part of ongoing efforts to dismantle terrorist hideouts within the Bagega–Sunke forest corridor and restore lasting security to affected communities.
Operation FANSAN YAMMA reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property, noting that offensive operations against criminal elements will be sustained. The public is also urged to support security agencies with timely and credible information.
