The development was disclosed in a statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Afusat Oyiza Salihu, who said the case is being treated as culpable homicide.
According to the police, preliminary findings indicate that on June 18, 2026, one Abdullahi Ishaka, accompanied by two women, allegedly stormed the school premises and attacked 30-year-old Maryam Usman after accusing her of disciplining a pupil.
The teacher reportedly sustained severe injuries during the assault. She was first taken to a hospital in Ugbamaka for treatment before being referred to Iko-Ojo Hospital, Okpo, where she later died on June 25, 2026.
Following the incident, police officers visited both the scene of the attack and the deceased’s residence to carry out the necessary documentation. The Command said arrangements are being made to move the body to General Hospital, Ankpa, for medical examination and an autopsy.
The suspects were said to have fled before police operatives arrived at the scene. The Command added that efforts are ongoing to track them down, noting that once arrested, the case will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a discreet and comprehensive investigation.
