TAKE-IT-BACK PROTESTERS STORM OYO GOVERNMENT HOUSE OVER INSECURITY, KIDNAPPINGS

Members of the Take-It-Back Movement defied heavy rainfall on Monday to stage a protest at the Oyo State Government House in Ibadan, calling for urgent government intervention over worsening insecurity and recent abductions in Oriire Local Government Area.

The protesters began their mobilisation at Mokola Roundabout, where they gathered in numbers before embarking on a march through major parts of the city. Their movement eventually culminated at the Government House, which became the focal point of their demonstration.

Undeterred by the downpour, the group continued their procession on foot, chanting solidarity songs and insisting that their action was necessary to highlight the growing fears of families affected by recent security incidents.

At the entrance of the Government House and along the march route, they displayed placards with messages including: “Security for all, not for a few,” “End kidnapping in Oyo State now,” “Safer roads and communities now,” and “Protect farmers, traders and students.”

The protest is coming against the backdrop of renewed public concern following the abduction of pupils and teachers in parts of Oriire Local Government Area, where armed men reportedly invaded schools and whisked away victims.
