A traditional chief in Warri has sparked controversy after making remarks about Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, saying she should focus on her husband and family responsibilities rather than Warri affairs.
Speaking at a gathering, he accused the First Lady of being disconnected from the hardships faced by ordinary Nigerians, particularly amid rising insecurity across the country.
“She should take care of her responsibility by taking care of her husband and children. She has no place in the office of the presidency,” he stated.
The chief further argued that the First Lady has no constitutional role in governance. He insisted that she should not interfere in political or regional matters.
He also expressed frustration over the worsening security situation, claiming that many communities feel abandoned by those in leadership.
“Our blood is now bleeding. We are tired of all this nonsense from the Itsekiris. No matter who it is, we are prepared for it,” he added.
His comments have generated mixed reactions online. While many condemned the remarks as sexist, others viewed them as an expression of frustration over insecurity and governance challenges.
