POLICE ADVANCE AI ADOPTION WITH LANDMARK LEADERSHIP DIALOGUE IN ABUJA

The development was disclosed by the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Okon Placid, in a statement issued on Thursday in Abuja.

The workshop, held on June 3, 2026, brought together senior law enforcement officials, technology experts, and international partners to examine the growing role of artificial intelligence in modern policing and public safety operations.

Participants engaged in extensive discussions on the practical application of AI in security operations, the opportunities and risks associated with emerging technologies, and global best practices that could guide the Nigeria Police Force in its digital transformation efforts.

Speaking on the outcome of the dialogue, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, said the deliberations underscored the reality that artificial intelligence is already transforming policing and security operations across the world.

He commended participants, facilitators, experts, and development partners for their contributions to the success of the workshop and reaffirmed the Force’s commitment to fostering strategic partnerships that support innovation in law enforcement.

A major highlight of the event was a presentation based on resolutions from the 5th Global Meeting for AI and Law Enforcement, during which Nigeria was recognised as a priority partner for the African AI Policing Pilot initiative.

Participants were encouraged to apply the knowledge and insights gained during the workshop within their various commands and departments, with a view to improving operational effectiveness and service delivery.

The Nigeria Police Force expressed appreciation to all stakeholders whose support contributed to the success of the workshop, reiterating its commitment to leveraging technology to enhance public safety, strengthen accountability, and build a more responsive police service.
