The Zamfara State Police Command disclosed that one of the abducted students successfully escaped from the captors and has been reunited with security authorities.
Police spokesperson, DSP Yazid Abubakar, said a combined team of police tactical operatives and military personnel attached to Operation Fansar Yamma was swiftly mobilised to the scene after reports of the incident were received.
According to him, the attackers had already fled the area before the arrival of security personnel.
He noted that security agencies have intensified ongoing search-and-rescue efforts to secure the release of the remaining students and track down those behind the abduction.
The police also appealed to residents to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies by providing useful and credible information that could aid the operation.
The Command assured the public that all necessary measures are being taken to ensure the safe rescue of the victims and pledged to keep residents informed of further developments as the operation progresses.
