Chinyere, popularly known as It Chinny Susan Rosemary or ITCHINNYS Event Planner, was the woman whose remains were reportedly discovered inside a toilet at an apartment in Enugu.

Previous reports said a man identified in connection with the case was arrested after neighbours confronted him following the discovery of the body. Police subsequently began investigating the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.

In the video that circulated online, the man was questioned about what happened to the woman. He reportedly gave an account linking the incident to HIV.

However, Chinyere’s sister has now questioned that account and urged the public not to treat it as the complete explanation until investigators establish the facts.

In a lengthy statement shared on October 1, 2026, Maryam introduced herself as Mrs Ugwu Kenechi Modesta Maryam and described Chinyere as her immediate younger sister.

She wrote:

“GOOD MORNING TO EVERYONE AND TO THE GOOD PEOPLE OF NIGERIA.

Today, 1st October 2026, I am writing this with a heart that is extremely heavy.

My name is MRS UGWU KENECHI MODESTA MARYAM and I am the immediate elder sister of MISS UGWU CHINYERE SUSAN ROSEMARY, popularly known as It Chinny Susan Rosemary or ITCHINNYS Event Planner.

The young lady whose tragic death has been circulating across social media is my baby sister.

The beautiful young woman you see in this picture was not only beautiful she was a hardworking, ambitious and determined young woman. She was a hustler who worked hard to build a life for herself.

Those who know me and my sisters, those who grew up with us, and those who know our family understand that we were raised to work hard and fend for ourselves . Before this tragedy, our family had no idea that my sister would become known across Nigeria because of such a painful circumstance.

Today, I am coming forward because my sister can no longer speak for herself. I must speak for her.

There have been reports circulating that she was killed because of HIV. As her family, we are questioning that account and asking the appropriate authorities and the public not to assume that this is the complete story until the investigation establishes the facts.

Yesterday, in the presence of the Commissioner of Police, my immediate younger brother, my mother, my father and my aunt, who is also a police officer, I personally witnessed an interview involving the suspect.

What we heard raised even more questions for our family.

The deceased, Chinyere

According to the account we heard, the suspect initially spoke about using a pestle to attack my sister. However, when questioned about some of the injuries, including injuries to her head and neck, he reportedly gave a different account and mentioned using a machete.

As a family, we need answers.

What exactly happened to my sister?

What caused the injuries on her body?

What happened to her neck and the back of her head?

What was actually used to inflict those injuries?

Why was her body allegedly kept inside a toilet within the apartment?

And what is the explanation for the items reportedly found in the apartment, including a calabash, candles and red cloth/rope?

Where the one of my sister wrist ?

These are not conclusions from me. They are questions that require proper investigation and evidence.

I am deliberately choosing my words because I understand that this matter is now a criminal investigation, and I do not want social media speculation to replace the work of the police, medical professionals and the courts.

But I also cannot remain silent.

My sister was someone’s daughter. She was someone’s sister. She was someone’s friend. She had dreams, plans and a future.

Whatever the circumstances surrounding her death, she deserves to have the truth established.

This experience has also taught me a painful lesson about social media. Before this happened to my family, I understood how quickly information spreads online. But now that it has happened to me personally, I understand even more deeply why people must be careful about believing everything they see or hear online.

I am therefore appealing to the good people of Nigeria, journalists, bloggers, human rights advocates, lawyers, responsible social media users and everyone who believes in justice

Please do not allow my sister’s story to be reduced to an unverified headline.

Please help us demand a thorough, transparent and impartial investigation.

If you have genuine information, evidence, photographs, videos or credible material that may assist the investigation, please preserve it and share it with the family or the appropriate authorities.

We are not asking anyone to take the law into their own hands.

We are asking for truth, due process and justice.

My heart is broken. My parents are devastated. A family has lost a daughter, a sister and a loved one.

Ugwu Chinyere Susan Rosemary you can no longer speak for yourself, but your family will not stop speaking for you, Maryam Kenechi Mama Kuro will not stop

We will continue to seek the truth through the proper channels.

JUSTICE FOR UGWU CHINYERE ROSEMARY SUSAN.

JUSTICE FOR SUZY MONEY

May God grant my family strength and may the truth prevail.
