The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, has received a delegation from the Nigeria Judo Federation (NJF) at the Force Headquarters, Abuja, as part of efforts aimed at strengthening collaboration and promoting physical fitness and discipline within the Nigeria Police Force.
The delegation was led by the President of the Federation, Dr. Musa Olakunle Oshodi, during a visit that also focused on deepening institutional partnership between the Police and the sporting body.
During the meeting, the Nigeria Judo Federation conferred the title of Life Patron on the IGP in recognition of his emergence as the 23rd Indigenous Inspector-General of Police, describing the appointment as significant to the nation’s sporting community.
Discussions at the engagement also centred on improving the physical fitness of police personnel and plans for the proposed 2026 IGP Open Judo Championship expected to involve various Police Commands across the country.
Speaking during the visit, the IGP appreciated the Federation for the recognition and reiterated the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to incorporating martial arts and competitive sporting activities into police training programmes.
He noted that such initiatives would help strengthen professional discipline, improve physical well-being, and enhance the overall capacity of officers and personnel nationwide.
