Medical examinations revealed that the girl was approximately six months pregnant. According to reports, her mother told hospital staff that the child had not yet started menstruating.

During subsequent questioning, the girl identified her stepfather, Julio Vivas, as the person responsible for the abuse, prompting authorities to move against him.

Vivas was arrested at a rural property in El Bracho, where he had reportedly been living with the girl and her mother. Police also seized his mobile phone as part of the investigation.

The girl’s grandmother has spoken about the family’s ordeal, revealing that she had previously warned her daughter to be cautious about Vivas, whom the younger woman had reportedly met online.

Speaking to local broadcaster Noticiero 7, she said, “She met him over the phone, but I always told her not to trust him too much.”

The grandmother also disclosed that she had experienced similar abuse during her own childhood, making the news about her granddaughter particularly painful.

She said: “I went through the same thing as the little girl did when I was eight. I know that kind of suffering.

“I always used to tell my husband: if anyone so much as lays a finger on one of my children, I’ll kill them with my own hands.”

She called on authorities to ensure that the case receives a thorough investigation and that justice is served.

The child’s teacher, identified as Lucrecia, also spoke to local media about the girl, describing her as quiet and attentive to her schoolwork.

According to the teacher, she had not noticed any unusual behaviour or signs of illness that would have indicated the circumstances the child was experiencing.

The teacher said: “She is a quiet girl; she does her homework… I have never noticed any strange behaviour on her part, nor has she ever been unwell”

Investigators are continuing to gather evidence to establish the full circumstances of the case.
