In an interview with LEGACYSERIESOFFICIAL, Bode explained that anyone visiting the area today would likely be overwhelmed by the kind of people living there. He stated that despite growing up in such a challenging neighborhood, his father, a civil servant and war veteran, ensured his children received proper education.
He emphasized that they attended free schools, highlighting the importance of discipline, sacrifice, and access to education in shaping his life.
Here’s what he said,
“Where I grew up on Lagos Island, if I take you there now, you will run and you will break the world record. I’m not joking because of the kind of characters that are there. So, what happened to them? My father was not a rich man; he was a civil servant. He fought in the war, he sent us to school, we went to free school.”
