Human rights activist, Omoyele Sowore, has stated that if Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has the capacity to send him to prison, he is available and has returned to Abuja to face any such move.
Speaking on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, Sowore suggested that the influencer’s recent outbursts are rooted in a sense of guilt, noting that the critic likely realized he had not handled the recent episode involving the detention of others with the necessary integrity.
He further characterized the influencer’s approach as a brand specifically built to instill fear in people rather than to pursue genuine justice.
Sowore said, “If he (VeryDarkMan) has the capacity to send me to prison I am available, I am back to Abuja now. I think his reaction came from the place of guilt and he realized he hasn’t done well in this particular episode. His brand is built to instill fear in people.”
The conflict intensified after VeryDarkMan issued a stern warning to Sowore, insinuating that he possessed the legal influence to facilitate the activist’s incarceration.
This threat was a direct reaction to Sowore’s public demand for the release of billionaire cryptocurrency entrepreneur Linus Ifejirika, known as Blord, from police custody.
Sowore had criticized the celebration of Blord’s imprisonment, arguing that the justice system should not be weaponized for personal vendettas or social media spectacle.
In response, VeryDarkMan dared Sowore to test his strength, claiming that if the veteran activist crossed him, he would ensure Sowore ended up in the Kuje Correctional Centre just as the businessman had.
The dispute highlights a sharp divide between Sowore’s traditional human rights advocacy and VeryDarkMan’s style of activism.
While the influencer has gained fame through controversial exposés and high-profile legal battles, Sowore maintains that such methods often rely on intimidation rather than legal brilliance.
