Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court on Wednesday sentenced former Minister of Power, Saleh Mamman, to 75 years in prison over corruption linked to the Mambilla and Zungeru hydroelectric power projects.
The court found Mamman guilty on a 12-count charge bordering on corruption and ruled that the prison terms would run consecutively, bringing the total sentence to 75 years.
Justice Omotosho also ruled that the prison sentence would commence from the day the former minister is arrested.
The judge further directed all security agencies to apprehend Mamman wherever he may be found.
In addition, the court ordered that all funds and properties recovered from the former minister be permanently forfeited to the Federal Government. The court also instructed him to refund the outstanding balance from the alleged N22bn connected to the Mambilla and Zungeru hydroelectric power projects.
