The death of Nollywood actor Alex Ekubo has continued to spark emotional reactions online, with fans, colleagues and celebrities expressing grief over the tragic loss.

Since reports of his passing surfaced on Tuesday, social media platforms have been flooded with tributes from admirers across Nigeria and beyond, many describing the news as heartbreaking and difficult to believe.

According to reports shared by close associates and entertainment platforms, the actor died after a prolonged battle with cancer.

Many fans took to X, Instagram and other social media platforms to share emotional messages in honour of the late movie star.

A fan identified as @Mr. Rekindled of AFC wrote: “Is this some late April Fool joke. God, what kind of news is this? Rest in peace bro I don’t even know what to type”.

@perpetua Ebubech also reacted, saying: “Rest well Alex I am done pressurising myself and being ungrateful. Being alive is enough. Aaaaaah Alex”.

Another user, @Amed Oshiorenua, commented: “This one hurts me ooo”.

@sheismirah_bakr wrote: “Indeed, every soul shall taste death. May we leave behind kindness, love, and good memories May we be celebrated while we are alive, not only mourned when we are gone”.

On X, @SAMPSOLO reflected on the uncertainty of life, writing: “Omoh, sometimes when I hear such news I just sit down and think about life.

“Everything we’re struggling for can just end in one moment. It’s really scary”.

Another fan, @nyarkowai23, posted: “Aww fine boy. May his soul rest in peace”.

Reacting to the development, @ceeyahs_xclusivcollection said: “Social media makes a lot of us look like we are living happily when we are actually fighting our battles. Remember we are all passing through something. Stay humble, stay kind”.

Another user, @DOG3tt, questioned the increasing deaths in the movie industry, writing: “What’s wrong with Nollywood, why is everyone dying young?”

Several celebrities also paid tribute to the late actor, describing him as talented, humble and unforgettable.
