President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has arrived in Nairobi, Kenya, ahead of the Africa-France Summit set to begin later on Monday.
The President’s Airbus A330-200 touched down at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport around 12:15 a.m. local time, according to a statement from the State House media office released early Monday.
Tinubu’s trip to Kenya is his second visit to the East African country since July 2023 and forms the second phase of his three-nation tour.
Before arriving in Nairobi, the Nigerian leader had visited France, where he met with international investors and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to economic reforms and fiscal discipline.
The Africa-France Summit, jointly hosted by French President Emmanuel Macron and Kenyan President William Ruto, will run from May 11 to May 12.
The summit, themed “Africa Forward: Africa-France Partnerships for Innovation and Growth,” will focus on issues including green industrialisation, energy transition, climate action, digital transformation and reforms in global financing systems.
According to the Presidency, Tinubu’s participation reflects Nigeria’s commitment to deepening strategic ties with African countries and France.
The President is expected to deliver a speech outlining his administration’s economic reforms aimed at positioning Nigeria as an attractive destination for investment and growth.
He is also scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with leading African and global business executives during the summit.
After the Nairobi meeting, Tinubu will travel to Kigali, Rwanda, for the Africa CEO Forum billed for May 14 to 15.
The President is expected back in Nigeria after the Rwanda visit, ahead of the APC presidential primary slated for May 23.
