Troops raid IPOB/ESN safe house, seize cache of arms in Enugu

Troops of Operation UDO KA have dismantled a suspected safe house belonging to the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed wing, the Eastern Security Network (ESN), in Enugu State.

In a statement released on Thursday in Abuja, the Nigerian Army said the operation was carried out by the 82 Division Garrison and Sector 1 of Operation UDO KA, in collaboration with operatives of the State Security Service (SSS).

According to the report, the raid was driven by intelligence gathered from suspects arrested during previous operations aimed at crippling IPOB/ESN activities in the region. The safe house, located in Agbani, Nkanu West Local Government Area, was subsequently traced and raided.

A thorough search of the premises yielded a significant arms haul, including:

· Eight AK-47 rifles
· Twelve AK-47 magazines
· One tear gas gun and two tear gas cartridges
· 323 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition

Additionally, ten pairs of uniforms believed to belong to IPOB members were recovered. All seized items have been handed over to the SSS for further investigation and necessary action.
