Sokoto State Governor Ahmed Aliyu has constituted a 10-member committee tasked with verifying and facilitating salary payments for over 3,000 newly recruited civil servants in the state.
The committee is chaired by the State Head of Service, Abdulkadir Ahmad, with the State Deputy Accountant General, Junaidu U. Junaidu, serving as secretary.
Additional members include representatives from the Civil Service Commission, the State Auditor General’s office, the Local Government Auditor General’s office, the Teachers Service Board, and the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC). Abdulmajid Sidi from the Ministry of Finance and Shehu Abdullahi, Director of Administration and General Services, also complete the panel.
According to a statement issued by Abubakar Bawa, Special Adviser to the Governor, the committee has been given a four-week ultimatum to conclude its assignment and submit its report.
The panel’s primary terms of reference include verifying that all newly deployed personnel have physically reported to their assigned Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), and ensuring that appropriate salary disbursements are processed for verified workers.
