NAF recruits test resilience in bush camp exercise

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has further strengthened the military preparedness of its newest recruits as 816 trainees of Basic Military Training Course (BMTC) 46/2025 successfully completed a six-day Initial Bush Camp Exercise, codenamed Exercise MUN FARA, at NAF Base Kaduna.

Conducted from 12 to 17 October 2026, the exercise featured demanding field activities, including day and night navigation, patrols, ambushes, attack drills and tent pitching, designed to test their physical endurance, tactical awareness and ability to operate under challenging conditions.

The exercise culminated in a gruelling 20-kilometre cross-country competition, with Alpha-Jet Squadron emerging overall winner in 2 hours, 33 minutes and 7 seconds.

Recruit Mohammed U of MI-35 Squadron emerged first among the male finishers, while Recruit Salihu SO of ATR-42 Squadron led the female category, demonstrating outstanding endurance and determination.

Commending the recruits for their resilience, discipline and team spirit, the MTC Commandant, Air Commodore AO Akins, noted that the exercise tested their practical application of essential military skills, including fieldcraft, weapon handling and map reading.

The exercise forms part of the progressive training programme designed to develop disciplined, confident and mission-ready personnel ahead of their final bush camp and eventual service in the Nigerian Air Force.
