Nigerian man cries out as abductors of wife, three children demand N500m

Musa Gidado, a 60-year-old man from Abaonigbe Odilu community near Ilorin in Kwara State, has cried out for help over the abduction of his wife and three children, revealing that the kidnappers are demanding a ransom of N500 million for their release.

Gidado explained that after he pleaded with them, the kidnappers lowered the ransom to N100 million.

Gidado said that gunmen entered their community around 9:30 am last Sunday and kidnapped his wife and three children.

He described how he managed to escape when the gunmen broke down his door.

“The gunmen came around 9:30pm shooting sporadically into the air to scare people away. They forced the door of my house open and abducted my wife and three children. I managed to escape through a shop attached to the house.

“The kidnappers initially demanded N500m ransom, but after a lot of pleading they have reduced the ransom to N100 million,” Gidado said.

Gidado, a petty trader from a humble background, called on all levels of government to help him and rescue his family from the kidnappers.

The head of Abaonigbe Odile community, Alh Jamiu Akanni, confirmed Gidado’s story and also urged the state government and security agencies to step up efforts to rescue the victims.
