The presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, has accused President Bola Tinubu’s administration of worsening Nigeria’s security and economic challenges, declaring that the country is collapsing under the current government.
Obi made the remarks on Saturday during a town hall meeting in Imo State, where he criticised the handling of insecurity and alleged mismanagement of public funds.
The former Anambra State governor said Nigerians were increasingly living in fear, accusing the government of failing to protect lives and property.
He also described the alleged stealing of public funds as one of the country’s biggest problems, insisting that such practices must end.
“Everything under President Tinubu is collapsing. We have become more terrorised, and Nigeria is now number four. Tinubu no longer has the energy to govern. The greatest problem of this country is people stealing public money, and that cannot happen under my watch,” Obi said.
The NDC candidate pledged to tackle insecurity and curb corruption if elected president, saying his administration would prioritise the protection of lives and the responsible use of public resources.

He further said he and his running mate, Rabiu Kwankwaso, would work to unite the country and address the security crisis.
“If given the opportunity, Kwankwaso and I will unite this country and declare a state of emergency on insecurity,” he stated.
Obi maintained that Nigeria needed leadership focused on restoring security and ensuring public funds were used for the benefit of citizens rather than a select few.
