This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, Lagos State Command, SP Abimbola Adebisi, on June 24, 2026.
According to the police, investigations commenced after reports emerged that Emeka Joseph allegedly assaulted Ezeka Chisom. Preliminary findings revealed that the victim, who had been cohabiting with the suspect, suffered physical injuries during the incident.
The Command stated that the victim sustained injuries to her face as a result of the assault.
Following the investigation, the suspect was charged to court and subsequently remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre. The matter has been adjourned until August 3, 2026, for further proceedings.
Reacting to the incident, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, psc, mnips, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to tackling domestic violence and protecting victims of abuse.
“The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, psc, mnips, reiterates the Command’s zero tolerance for all forms of domestic violence and assures members of the public that cases involving violence and abuse will continue to receive prompt attention.”
He also encouraged residents to promptly report cases of domestic violence and other criminal activities to the nearest police station or formation for immediate intervention.
The Lagos State Police Command assured the public that it remains committed to ensuring justice for victims of abuse and holding offenders accountable under the law.
