Vice Presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has led the coordination and formal submission of the party’s candidates across the 19 Northern states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Kwankwaso disclosed this in a Facebook post on Thursday, saying the exercise was carried out in collaboration with the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) and candidates at various levels.
According to him, the process was successfully concluded on Thursday, August 20, 2026, with the formal presentation of the names of the candidates to the NDC National Leader, Senator Seriake Dickson.
He said the exercise demonstrated the cooperation and commitment of the party’s leadership and candidates towards strengthening the NDC ahead of the elections.
“In a spirit of complete collaboration, support and solidarity, I led the coordination and formal submission of National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidates across the 19 Northern states and the Federal Capital Territory,” Kwankwaso said.
He expressed appreciation to Dickson, members of the NWC and the candidates for their cooperation throughout the process.
“I express our profound gratitude to the National Leader, the National Working Committee, and all the candidates for their cooperation and unwavering commitment,” he added.
Kwankwaso described the submission of the candidates as more than an administrative exercise, saying it represented another step towards building a strong political structure for the NDC.
“This is more than the completion of a submission process; it is another decisive step towards building a formidable NDC team capable of competing strongly at every level,” he said.
The former Kano State governor said the party was prepared for the political tasks ahead, signalling that the NDC would intensify its activities as the 2027 elections approach. “The task ahead is promising, and we are ready to go,” he stated.
The development comes as political parties continue to organise their structures and finalise candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections, with parties expected to intensify campaigns and mobilisation across the country.
