Content creator King Mitchy has stirred an outpouring of sympathy after sharing details of a visit to the family of late Nollywood actor Mr Ibu.
According to Mitchy, she visited the actor’s family and discovered that some of his children were no longer attending school due to financial difficulties.
She stated that Mr Ibu’s 14-year-old daughter and his younger sons, aged 12 and 10, had reportedly dropped out of school.
Mitchy also claimed that the family disclosed they had been without electricity and access to potable water for about two weeks because of insufficient funds.
Expressing her concern, Mitchy described Mr Ibu as a legendary entertainer whose movies brought joy to millions of Nigerians during their childhood.
She noted that it was painful to see the family of such a beloved figure facing hardship and called for support to help the children return to school and address some of the family’s immediate needs.
King Mitchy said …
“This is the family of a legend. Not just anybody. I don’t know for you, but for me Mr Ibu made my childhood fun. I loved to watch his movies. Him and Aki and Paw Paw now that he is gone his family should not be suffering. We are donating for the children to go back to school and for their house rent to be paid….”

Mr Ibu, whose real name was John Okafor, was one of Nollywood’s most recognizable comic actors, known for his humorous performances and decades-long contribution to the Nigerian film industry. Sadly, the actor passed on in 2024 after battling prolonged sickness.
