GUNMEN ABDUCT KOGI SCHOOL PRINCIPAL, NECO OFFICIAL, FOUR STUDENTS DURING EXAM

Gunmen have kidnapped the principal of Government Secondary School, Odo-Ekina, a National Examinations Council (NECO) ad hoc official, and four students during the ongoing NECO examination in Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State.

The Kogi State Police Command confirmed the incident in a statement issued on Wednesday by its spokesperson, SP Salisu Oyiza. According to the statement, the attack occurred at about 5:25 p.m. on Tuesday while candidates were sitting for the examination.

“During the incident, four students, the school principal and one NECO ad hoc staff member were abducted by the attackers,” Ms Oyiza said.

The police spokesperson disclosed that security operatives, comprising the police and other agencies, immediately commenced a coordinated search-and-rescue operation following the attack.

She added that one of the abducted students has since been rescued, while efforts are continuing to secure the release of the remaining victims and bring those responsible for the abduction to justice.

“So far, one of the abducted students has been rescued, while efforts are ongoing to secure the safe rescue of the remaining victims and apprehend the perpetrators,” she added.
