Former Manchester United academy midfielder Mark Helm has been named League Two Player of the Month following an outstanding run of form for Fleetwood Town, according to Manchester Evening News.
Helm, who spent 12 years in Manchester United’s academy after joining at the age of seven, left the club in 2021 without making a senior appearance. Since departing Old Trafford, he has continued his development across several clubs, including spells at Burnley and Burton Albion, before establishing himself at Fleetwood Town.
The midfielder’s performances in March proved decisive in earning him the monthly award, with Helm directly involved in all of Fleetwood Town’s attacking output during the period. He contributed to six goals in total across the month, scoring four himself while also providing assists for his teammates.
Operating primarily as a number 10, Helm showed an increased attacking influence, regularly arriving in advanced positions and making key contributions in the final third. His form played a central role in Fleetwood’s performances throughout the month and underlined his growing importance to the team.
Speaking after receiving the award, Helm credited his teammates for their role in his success, highlighting the collective effort behind his individual recognition. He also pointed to his development in recent months, noting that playing in more advanced areas has allowed him to improve his goal output and overall influence on matches.
Helm explained that confidence and consistency have been key factors in his recent performances, adding that he now feels more capable of affecting games on a regular basis. He stated that his focus remains on maintaining his form and helping Fleetwood finish the season strongly.
