The District Head of Gwandu in Kebbi State, Muhammadu Rasheed widely known as Sarkin Gabas has died.
His death was officially confirmed on Wednesday by Ahmed Idris, the Chief Press Secretary to the Kebbi State Governor, alongside Abdullahi Idris, the Special Adviser on Communication and Strategy.
According to Abdullahi Idris, the traditional ruler passed away on Wednesday. He noted that the funeral prayer would be held at the Emir of Gwandu’s Palace in Birnin Kebbi by 3:00 p.m.
“His Royal Highness passed away today, and the burial prayer will be performed at the Emir of Gwandu’s Palace, Birnin Kebbi, by 3pm,” Abdullahi stated.
Rasheed ascended to the throne succeeding his father, the late Alhaji Muhammadu Bashar Mai-Wurno. The late Mai-Wurno was the eldest son of a former Emir of Gwandu, Alhaji Haruna Rasheed, cementing the family’s deep-rooted lineage within the traditional institution.
Reacting to the demise, Ahmed Idris described the passing of the district head as a profound loss for both Kebbi State and its traditional leadership council.
