The Kwara State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has appointed Prince Omar Bolaji Gambari as Director-General of its Campaign Organisation for the 2027 governorship election.
The party said the appointment was unanimously approved at an expanded meeting attended by its leaders and governorship candidate, Engr. Suleiman Bolakale Kawu Agaka, and presided over by the State Chairman, Isa Bawa Adamu.
In a statement issued in Ilorin and signed by the State Publicity Secretary, Olusegun Olusola Adewara, the PDP said Gambari was selected based on his professional experience, organisational capacity, knowledge of Kwara’s political environment and engagement with young people.
Gambari was among the aspirants who participated in the party’s 2026 governorship process. He remained active in the party after Agaka emerged as its governorship candidate. Contemporary reports also identify Gambari among the PDP figures involved in the party’s 2026 governorship discussions.
The party described Gambari as an international lawyer, entrepreneur and corporate strategic adviser with experience spanning law, finance, real estate, agriculture and community development.
“Prince Omar Bolaji Gambari brings to this responsibility a combination of professional experience, youthful energy, organisational exposure and an understanding of contemporary political communication,” the statement said.
According to the PDP, Gambari obtained a law degree from Fordham University School of Law in the United States and was admitted to the New York State Bar in 2000. It added that he had worked with Merrill Lynch, the United Nations and international law firm Simpson Thacher & Bartlett before establishing his private legal practice.
The party also highlighted his involvement in youth development and community initiatives, including the OBG Foundation.
Gambari previously contested the Ilorin East/South Federal Constituency seat under the PDP in 2018 and later participated in the party’s 2026 governorship primary process.
The PDP said his appointment forms part of its preparations and is intended to coordinate the party’s campaign structure across the state ahead of the 2027 election.
