Kogi ADC lawmaker Honourable Leke Abejide has alleged that former Senator Dino Melaye wrote to the Inspector General of Police, the Director General of the DSS, and the INEC chairman demanding his arrest, simply because he convened a meeting of ADC leaders in Kogi State.…WATCH THE VIDEO HERE
Speaking in an interview with Channels TV, Abejide said, “Senator Dino Melaye wrote a letter to the IG, wrote to the DG of DSS, wrote to the chairman of INEC, saying that I don’t have the power to call any meeting of ADC. I was shocked. I cannot work with them, because they came with the idea of destroying this party, and I will not agree with them. This is what made me unwilling to work with them,” he said.
Abejide revealed that he had initially welcomed the coalition’s arrival with open arms, noting that before their defection, many Nigerians barely recognised the ADC as a political party.
He stated that the added visibility was something the party needed and he had chosen to stay silent rather than raise objections. He however noted that it soon became clear to him that the new entrants had come not to build on what existed, but to displace the people they had met and take complete control of the party’s structure, a realisation that made cooperation impossible.
