Leke Abejide, a member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and representative of the Yagba Federal Constituency in Kogi State, has expressed the view that life in Nigeria can be among the most affordable and easiest to sustain when compared with many other countries around the world.…WATCH THE VIDEO HERE
Speaking during a recent interview on Channels Television, Abejide argued that the cost of living in Nigeria is often misunderstood, especially by those who have not had the opportunity to travel widely or experience life in other nations.
He maintained that many of the criticisms levelled against living conditions in the country are influenced by limited exposure to global realities.
The lawmaker suggested that people who have lived only within Nigeria may not fully appreciate the differences in expenses, lifestyle demands, and survival pressures that exist elsewhere.
According to him, international exposure tends to change perceptions significantly, as it allows individuals to compare daily living costs such as housing, transportation, food, and general welfare across different economies.
Abejide further explained that while Nigeria faces its own economic challenges, the country still offers a relatively lower cost structure for basic living needs when viewed from a global perspective. He implied that what may appear difficult locally could, in fact, be more manageable than conditions in several other countries where expenses are significantly higher.
He also stressed that travel plays an important role in shaping informed opinions, as it exposes individuals to diverse systems and standards of living. In his view, such experiences help people better understand how affordability and comfort vary across borders.
The legislator concluded by encouraging broader perspectives when discussing national living conditions, noting that comparisons should be made with awareness of global differences rather than local assumptions alone.
According to Leke Abejide during an interview on Channels Television;
“I have been saying this but people don’t believe me, except you travel wide, all over the world, nigeria is where you have the cheapest and easiest life to live.”
